Czar, Alberta is a small, close-knit community, located 70 kms (43 mi) west of the Saskatchewan border. The prairie landscape and quaint main street make it a picturesque destination, with a slower pace and friendly locals. Each summer, the Czar Rodeo attracts and features broncos from the nearby ranches and the small town has garnered a reputation for its hardy, rough and tumble rodeo stars. The Czar Quilters meet regularly at the Czar Cultural and Rec Centre, inviting others to join in on this time-honored social tradition.The centre is also home to an active theatre group, and various productions take place there throughout the year. Inviting shops await visitors to the village, featuring an array of collectibles, from antiques to local crafts. A short drive out of town is the Shorncliffe Lake Park, where boating enthusiasts mingle with families who enjoy the picnic area and abundant greenery. With its prairie locale, the weather in Czar is unpredictable, with cold fronts often moving in without warning. Summers tend to be hot and dry, with bright blue Alberta skies providing a scenic blanket over the town.
